...just because i think you're rad { + free printable!}

isn't it the best when someone surprises you with a fun little something on your doorstep for no reason at all?
i know i sure like it.
a little while ago i read this blog post and it got me thinking about the kind of friend i am.
i like to think that i'm a good friend, but i'm positive i'm not nearly as good as i could be.

i have a bomb bread recipe...
{ 1 1/2 TBSP salt, 1 1/2 TBSP yeast, 1 TBSP sugar, 3 cups lukewarm water. Whisk together in a LARGE bowl. Like the biggest bowl you own. I let it sit for about 5 min to make sure the yeast activates (it may get a little poofy/bubbly/smell really yeasty). Then add 1 cup of flour at a time, stirring with the whisk or wooden spoon until you've added 6 cups of flour. Cover bowl with Saran wrap and let rise for 1 hour. Then punch it down, separate into two equal sections, add flour so the dough isn't sticky and shape into two long loaves. Preheat oven to 450*, let the bread rise til the oven is ready, then bake for around 30 minutes until its golden brown. That's it!}
 and a freezer full of homemade strawberry jam i made this summer, so why not put them to good use?

i thought of a couple people i could take the bread and jam to.
their names kinda popped into my head.
i knew this would brighten their day.
i was excited to do this little act of service for them.

i made up some cute little printables while the bread was baking and the twins were napping.

i have a bunch of blank 4x6" pieces of photo paper and sized these to print perfectly on them.

and the third one wouldn't print quite right.
so i tried it again.
and again.
it still didn't print right.
the girls woke up early.
they were grumpy, crying and screaming.
i did a favor for someone, but i didn't do it to their liking, so they got mad at me.
my husband was out for the night, so i had the grumpy girls alllllllll to myself.
i was feeling very pregnant and just heavy.
i cooked dinner for the girls, they didn't like it and threw it all over the floor.
i still had to deliver the bread and jam to the two people i had chosen and was in NO MOOD to do so.
it would've been so easy to not do it.
so easy.
but i knew i needed to do it.
i prayed for guidance for those two names, they needed that bread and jam!
i wasn't going to let all those annoying events stop me from delivering them.
so we got in the car and dropped them off.
whew. done.
i was still a little grumpy, though and a little annoyed that such a nice, simple idea became so difficult.
i was annoyed at being annoyed.
it was not a good combination.
eventually i got over it and got to my senses.

this just goes to show me that i need to really work on myself!
how impatient i've gotten!
how easily i let events affect my attitude.
this little bread baking, jam thawing, printable making adventure taught me way more about myself than i was banking on.
funny how that happens, huh?

anyways, i hope that if anyone decides to use my printables to give something to someone, it turns out a little easier for you than it did for me!

{by downloading the above printables you are agreeing to not sell them or redistribute them on any website. link with love.}

  1. YUmmy! I just pinned it, I can't wait to make it!

  2. I love this idea. My dad bakes three loaves of his famous bread each Saturday afternoon. Two my family eats during the week, and one he takes to church to give to a family. he always prays about who might need it the most that week. I love that you brightened someone else's day, even if yours was hard (but isn't that always how it is, when we try to do something good?).

  3. Cute!! Seems like your babies like sleeping a lot, aren't they? I think this is one good way in taking someone else's anxiousness and worries, showing them how they mean to you by giving simple gifts and presents.

i love candy, sewing and the power to delete :) have a great day!
